A SMALL GROUP OF PEACEKEEPERS CALLED THE PALADIN PROTECT A REMOTE THREE PLANET COLONY, VINTOO, SALANAN AND TSCHO. THE PALADIN ARE LED BY LORAN AND TET, A FATHER AND SON TEAM WHO HAVE DEVELOPED A NEW FIGHTING STYLE THAT UTILIZES SKILLS THAT CAN ONLY BE MASTERED BY ACCESSING DORMANT AREAS OF THE HUMAN BRAIN. THEY CALL THIS SKILL “JUN” WHICH MEANS “THE OLD WAY.”
A new wave of crime has hit the colony. Unusually violent and organized, the leader is a mysterious warlord from a distant planet. His name is Mogul. The criminal organization is called the “Shune” which translates as “All Powerful.” They brought with them advanced weapon technology which creates a challenge for Lena, the Paladin lead science officer. The Paladin are under great pressure from the colony to bring Mogul and The Shune to justice.
Loran and Jun
He is a mystic who believes in ancient powers that have been lost over the millennia. He comes from a long line of peacekeepers who settled on Tscho during the first wave of colonization. He can achieve great power and skill by using hallucinogenic herbs to access dormant or unused portions of the brain. These areas of the brain are developed in concert with the body to increase speed of movement, power and muscle output, vision, bone strength and least understood the Jun-Tu or “Mind Powers.” Loran is tall, strong and looks younger than his actual years. He is obsessed with Jun and is constantly exploring Jun-Tu and teaching the skills to the other Paladin at the Academy.
Tet and Technology
Tet is learning Jun from his father, but he is drawn to technology and engineering. He’s able to design and build weaponry that complements the Jun fighting style. The main weapon used by the Paladin is called a Tsuk (Sook). It’s an adaptable staff, much like a giant pocket knife or leatherman. The staff has multiple functions and is customized to suit each individual Paladin. Tet and the tech team also adapt each Tsuk based on the mission at hand. Tet is handsome, wild, brooding and impatient. His interest in technology is often at odds with Loran who believes that Tet should focus his energy and time on Jun.
Mogul
He is called a Bawn, one of the more recent alien immigrants fleeing their distant war torn planet. Mogul is a known warlord from that conflict and the immigrants have kept information about him to themselves. The Bawn look similar to humans, but they have generally larger muscles and frames. It’s rumored that he smuggled a new type of weapon that could pose a serious threat to the Colonists and the Paladin.
LENA
Lena is the lead scientist and battle strategist for the Paladin. Although she is most revered for her intellect, she is also an accomplished warrior and considered deadly with a Tsuk. Lena works closely with Loran and Tet. Lena has sensed an awakening with her abilities in Jun, but has been hesitant to discuss with the others.
MADRAK
She is the mother of Mogul whose father died when he was 9 years old. Madrak immediately began training him as a warrior. She has extraordinary power and is waiting for her opportunity to take control of the colony. Strict laws on her home planet kept her from realizing her full potential. But now, as her son engages in war with the Paladin, she will finally be able to use her skills to their advantage.
